The reflection of “Yourself” and “The Other” in the novel “IbadoShams” by using Van Dijk’s critical Discourse analysis

Abstract

The Palestine’s resistance novel genre is all about the voice of people who could not live normal and they live in a sadness as if it never ends. Authors of the resistance novel genre have always used language to highlight their political views and ideas in modern literary form with the aim of reinforcing the propositions presented in the text, and are trying to establish a real relationship between through the novel. And draw the outer textures in the best way for the audience.
Sahar Khalifa, Palestinian famous author tries to show the truth of painful life of people in the prison of the demon in the novel and she also shows the world that the Palestinian do their best to take back their country. This research has been done with a descriptive – analysis method to analyze the novel in the form of Van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis; and the writer seeks the answer of this question: How could it be possible to analyze the thought level of the novel's author about Palestinian with “You” and “The Other” identification for the enemy by using the analysis of discourse strategy? The result shows that the novel is full of elements like form, ideas, authenticating, highlighting and the vocabulary choice has the most frequency in the novel and expresses that the author has kind of a tendency in Palestine’s problems.
