Abstract
By the appearance of poetry, there was not much difference between poetry and prose. Poetry was musical words which helped ride camels; there was not much difficulty and complexity in it and the reader could easily extract its theme. But the clearance and fluency of the meaning of poetry has not always remained the same; its meanings spread day by day and the types of meters increased and poets largely paid attention to their poems. Some of those poets tried an year to polish their poetry and attempted to convey it to the summit of literature and took advantage of creative forms of expression. From among different kinds of techniques to beautify their poetry and which were in vogue among their people, they used colors in their poems. Ibn al-Rumi is one of the most important poets who have used this genre. This study focuses on the function of color in Ibn al-Rumi's poetry and determines the poet's ability to use semiotics and aesthetic usage of colors because the poet has grown up in an environment rich with natural beauty and colors. This study had the Significance of the Colors in his Poetry and studies the appearance of the color in it. It depends on the descriptive analytical approach. In his poems, Ibn al-Rumi has made use of colors as if the poet has made his Divan as a nature full of colors and trees. Due to his illustration of feelings, he has used colors well; hence, the function of those colors and literary signifies the evident in the literary images. Ibn al-Roumi mostly used white, green, red, black, yellow and blue colors.
